India Bans Nepali Vehicles at Most Borders

India Bans Nepali Vehicles at Most Borders

India has stopped Nepali number-plate vehicles from entering through almost all border points, except Gulariya (Bardiya) and Murtiya. Until now, Nepali vehicles were allowed to travel freely up to the Indian market in Mihipurwa, but this has now been restricted.

Key Points:

  • Nepali vehicles can only enter India from Gulariya and Murtiya.
  • The ban was imposed after a bomb blast in Delhi, leading Indian security forces to tighten border checks.
  • The restriction has created problems for locals who regularly travel across the border.
  • Nepali officials say they will discuss the issue with Indian authorities.

What Happened?

Indian SSB has blocked Nepali four-wheelers from entering India through small border routes. The Ranjanwa border point in Gulariya-10 has stopped the movement of both Indian and Nepali vehicles.

A week earlier, two foreign nationals entered India from Nepalgunj without passports, which raised security concerns. After the blast in Delhi, India increased security along the border.

Indian security forces say the ban is to prevent any risk to peace and safety. They are only allowing vehicles through main checkpoints.

Impact on People

  • Locals on the Nepali side are facing difficulties because the usual travel routes are closed.
  • Indian vehicles are still entering Nepal through Murtiya.
  • People have complained that if Nepali vehicles are banned, Indian vehicles should also face the same rule.

Nepali authorities have said they will talk with Indian officials to understand the reason behind the restrictions and find a solution.
